The West Theater opened in August of 1941 by LAM Amusement Co.. The opening attraction was “Three Sons O'Guinn”. Designed by the GA architectural firm Tucker & Howell, it featured a relief sculpture by Julian Hoke Harris. When the West Theater opened it was the largest theater operated by LAM.
Considered on the finest examples of Art Deco style in Northwest Georgia, it features a hanging chandelier in the lobby.
In 1981 the theater was twined to show two movies in the upper balcony and staged was closed off from public access.
In 2018 the theater needed a roof installation and in the process rain flooded and damaged a big part of the theater, at this point the theater required a major renovation. We got to work and reopened on November 16, 2018 with 4 Screens and 2 VIP Rooms that seat in 8 and over looks the Main Theaters. The renovations totaled over $500,000. that included new seating with West Cinema embroidered into the head rests, Curtains, Screens, Wiring, Bathrooms and Concessions.
We are very proud of all the updates we have done to the theater keeping its original essence and style, we hope you can visit us and enjoy the The West Cinema with us!
